About the Author:
Robert Barclay, a twenty-year resident of Hawai‘i, was raised on the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. He currently teaches English at Windward Community College and lives in Kāne‘ohe with his wife and two children. Previous short stories of his have appeared in Mānoa, Hawai‘i Review, and Scribners. His novel Melal, published with University of Hawai‘i Press, was short-listed for the 2003 Kiriyama Prize, and it was selected by Barnes and Noble for its Discover Great New Writers program, among several other honors. The novel is currently being adapted into a film by Producer and Director Vilsoni Hereniko, whose first film, The Land Has Eyes, was a featured film at the Sundance Film Festival.

Lō‘ihi Press, LLC and its authors work with schools and community organizations to promote literacy in Hawaiʻi, including, school readings, promoting the joy of reading and writing, helping to develop creative writing programs in the shools, and donating books to literacy programs.
